Lasterday Creative rises from and dwells in the heart of a brand’s story. After years of working within big agencies, Jessica Tener craved a more personal and meaningful way to serve the business community. She sought to transform the often-overlooked heart of a brand—their history, motivations, and dreams—into creative work that truly reflects who they are.

The word “Lasterday” comes from Jessica’s oldest daughter, who used to say “lasterday” instead of “yesterday.” The word serves as a reminder of the power of a childlike mindset—one that views the world with unfiltered curiosity and finds immense meaning in stories. Lasterday Creative “embraces that same spirit when building brands. We believe that a brand’s story, its ‘lasterday,’ is at the heart of its identity, and by connecting that authentic history to real business objectives, we create work that truly resonates with audiences,” Jessica explains.

Emphasizing collaboration, Jessica shares, “We believe that great creative work starts with listening—really listening—to the stories, goals, and needs of the businesses we work with.” The Lasterday team approaches each project with a hands-on, flexible, and deeply invested mindset, fostering strong relationships with their clients. Their diverse perspectives as a collective team give their work a distinctive edge that sets them apart from larger agencies.

The creative process begins with understanding the client’s story before launching into a thorough analysis of competitors, trends, target audiences, and marketing strategies to identify opportunities and points of differentiation. This research informs creative decisions and allows for thoughtful suggestions. Every subsequent step reinforces their collaborative nature, ensuring the final product aligns with the client’s vision and goals. Throughout the process, inspiration comes directly from the client’s story, providing the team with a clear purpose behind their creativity. “When a client shares their story, it fuels our creativity and gives us the purpose we need to bring their brand to life,” the team shares.

One particularly meaningful project involved working with a children’s hospital in Maryland, where the team created activities for kids in long-term care. “Thinking through activities that could bring a little joy to children going through such difficult times really hit home. Being able to help, even in a small way, was incredibly meaningful and a reminder to appreciate every moment. It was definitely a special project that left a lasting impact,” they recall.

When it comes to staying inspired, Jessica attributes her creativity to her children. “Being a mom to my four littles keeps me constantly inspired. They have so much energy and the best imaginations, which remind me to approach creativity with curiosity and playfulness.”  Danielle Hendrix, Lasterday’s design director, finds her inspiration in travel.  “I absolutely love learning how different people live, experiencing their cultures, and tasting their food. I’m just as inspired by nature as I am by diving into a great book. Exploring new places and perspectives keeps my creativity fresh and flowing.”
