After decades in the banking industry, David Rabin discovered a different kind of return on investment. As president and CEO of Greenwich United Way, he now measures success not in financial growth, but in stronger families, healthier children, and a more connected community.
"What I regret most is not making the move to the nonprofit sector sooner," he says. "Every day, I have the privilege of working alongside people who genuinely want to improve lives."
That purpose became even clearer after seeing the hidden challenges many Greenwich residents face. Despite the town's reputation for affluence, nearly one-third of residents benefit from programs and services supported by Greenwich United Way. Through its research-driven Community Needs Assessment, the organization identifies the community's greatest needs and invests in evidence-based solutions that strengthen education, mental health, financial stability, and basic needs.
For Rabin, leadership begins with listening. He believes lasting change comes from bringing people together, building trusted partnerships, and ensuring every donor dollar creates measurable impact.
After calling Greenwich home for more than four decades, he says the town's greatest strength is its people. "What makes Greenwich so special is that people here truly care," he says. "When a community comes together around a common purpose, incredible things are possible."
