Leading Ladies of Lebanon

Each of These Special Women make Wilson County Shine

Necole Bell

Co-owner Coco & Lou Home, founding member of the 100 Women Who Care Greater Wilson County

Along with being the current First Lady of Lebanon, wife to Mayor Rick Bell, tell us about your current project in Wilson County.

At the end of last year, I made the decision to sell my business of 11 years, it was a business that I had poured much of my heart and time into but felt the pull to lighten the load and at the same time to dream new dreams.  It was a tough decision but one I haven’t looked back on.  For years I had a vision of a home decor, gift and event bridal registry store.  Growing up in Lebanon I can remember shopping at “The Ivy Wreath” and “Cox’s” so part of my vision was to give my clients a taste of the past, so in October 2022 Coco & Lou Home was born.  It’s a little of all the things I dreamed of and this spring we are launching clothing.

In 2021, I joined an organization in Davidson County, 100 Women Who Care Greater Nashville (100WWCGWC).  The concept is you get at least 100 Women a quarter to commit to giving $100.  A non-profit is selected each quarter and that charity receives a minimum of $10,000.  I’m proud to say since our first meeting in January 2023, 100WWCGWC members have given over $103,000 to five non-profits locally!

What’s not to love about living here? Lebanon people are so good and giving. Time and time again I’ve seen our town show up for others.  Whether it’s Friday night lights or a tornado, our town has heart.  We are fierce to love and support.

Do you have a favorite quote or life motto to share?

“If you are not uncomfortable – you are not growing” I must remind myself of this when I get in uncomfortable situations to push myself to grow and develop my talents I have been blessed with.

Luke 12:48 “…To whom much is given, much will be required.” If we have been blessed with talents, wealth, knowledge, time…it is expected that we benefit others. I see God in my life every day. I hope I am able to bless others with my gifts.

Tell us about your business in Lebanon!

Running my practice as an Edward Jones Financial Advisor has helped me relate and work well with fellow small business owners and entrepreneurs. After navigating a few challenges on my life path, I also understand the needs of women in transition from divorce, loss of a spouse, or a late-life career change, including retirement. We partner together to organize and gain control of their finances, achieve peace of mind by leaving a legacy for their loved ones, and increase fulfillment through the pursuit and accomplishment of their life's purpose.

What are your favorite things about living here?

I love that Lebanon/Wilson County is a very interconnected community of great people. As an active member of the community, I have the privilege of serving on the board of the Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce, the Lebanon Noon Rotary Club, and Compassionate Hands. I value the relationships I've built over time, and I'm grateful for the many opportunities I get to help serve and positively impact our city and county.

What is your favorite local event?

I look forward to the Sherry's Run 5K each year. I've organized a team of ladies for the event the past couple of years,  walking in honor of my late grandmother and Blue Star Sister who both lost their battles with cancer.

Favorite quote or life motto?

"Be the change you wish to see in the world." This quote by Mahatma Gandhi has always resonated with me and serves as a guiding principle in both my personal and professional life. It reminds me of the power we each hold to make a positive impact, not only in our own lives but also in the lives of those around us. As I strive to create a welcoming and inclusive space at The Refinery and contribute to the well-being of our community, this motto inspires me to lead by example and embody the change I wish to see.

What are your favorite things about Lebanon/Wilson County:

My two favorite things are not two specific things. They are the collective efforts embracing two magnificently unique and broad views.

Lebanon and Wilson County offer four glorious seasons, offering a tapestry of beautiful landscapes. The winters are mild here. Our fall foliage has become a world-renowned sensation, with bright reds, oranges, and yellows coating the leaves. Daffodils, tulips, and snowdrops remind us spring is on its way. We go fishing, swimming, paddleboarding, or kayaking creeks and rivers in the summer.

Lebanon/Wilson County offers the extent to which you can choose to raise your family or live—a high quality of life. One can envelop the rural hills, revealing stunning vistas, creeks, and a few remaining country roads, or the comforts and luxuries of suburban life. The continued multilateral strategic planning has improved the community hospitals and clinics, the delicious restaurant options, and offer shoppers a paradise. The dedication to education is steadfast, offering families public school, private school, homeschooling, or university.

What is your favorite local event?

I want to think my favorite local event has not happened yet.

Over the past 30-plus years, I have had the honor of helping with many magnificent events here, and this community has many more to come.
