Lion Pride Tailgating

Lindenwood University Welcomes Fans

One of the best things about Fall is football, food trucks and fan frenzy! All of that can be found in St. Charles as Lindenwood University, and the community, share their enthusiasm prior to each home game at the Lion Pride Tailgate. The tailgating, featuring numerous food trucks, local brews, live music and games, takes place in the Field House parking lot and street outside of the stadium.

The tailgating zone is free and open to everyone. All alcohol purchases are handled by 4 Hands Brewery (IDs required--and wristbands will need to be worn). No alcohol can leave the tailgating section or be taken into the stadium.

The Lions start a new era as they officially compete as members of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) at the NCAA Division I FCS level this fall. The Lions won two GLVC Championships and made appearances in the NCAA Division II Playoffs in both 2019 and 2021. In those two years, Lindenwood garnered three All-Americans, while four players received major conference awards.

Lindenwood will head to Houston, Texas on September 10 to kick off the 2022 season, against Houston Baptist University. The first home game is on September 17, with the first Lion Pride Tailgate starting at 3:00 p.m., featuring fireworks after the game.

Earlier this summer, Jason Coomer was named VP for Intercollegiate Athletics, coming to Lindenwood after spending 14 years at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, including the last six years as the Deputy Athletic Director.

“St. Charles is now home to an NCAA Division I athletics department and we can't wait to go on this journey with the community,” he said at a news conference.

“We will set the bar high, keeping in mind the responsibility we have in representing those who came before us that helped provide the opportunity we have today. Without the achievements of our former student-athletes, we would not be in a position to make this leap to NCAA Division I. In addition, we will exhaust every option to put our student-athletes in the best possible position to find success both academically and athletically. The experiences of our student-athletes, coaches and staff will be critical as we take Lindenwood Athletics to new levels. Representing the St. Charles community in a first-class manner will be at the forefront of everything we do.”
