The Chandler International Film Festival (CIFF) is gearing up for its biggest year yet, and organizers say the 10-day celebration continues to stand out as one of Arizona’s most culturally rich cinematic events. What sets CIFF apart is its global scope and filmmaker-centered mission.,
“The Chandler International Film Festival stands out because it’s not just a film festival—it’s a vibrant 10-day celebration of cinema, global culture, and community,” says Mitesh Patel, CIFF’s president and festival director.
Each year, CIFF showcases more than 150 films from around 35 countries, offering everything from independent discoveries to films up for Oscar consideration. But beyond the screenings, the festival has also become known for its hands-on support of creators.
“We work tirelessly to bring as many directors, writers, producers, and actors to Chandler as possible,” Patel says, creating a hub for collaboration through workshops, Q&As, after-parties, and a high-energy awards ceremony.
The beloved Culture Days further set CIFF apart with “special themed programming that highlights Latin, Indian, Asian, Nordic, African, and other global communities,” he explains.
This year, CIFF is undergoing its biggest transformation yet.
“One of the biggest changes is our expansion into two additional cities—Gilbert and Tempe,” Patel says.
The extended footprint opens the festival to new audiences, new partnerships, and a wider range of venues. With its 10th anniversary approaching, attendees can expect a more robust film lineup, expanded cultural programming, and the involvement of even bigger special guests and industry figures.
“What excites me most about this year is the scale of growth we’re stepping into,” Patel says, pointing to new venues such as Chandler-Gilbert Community College and expanded networking staples like Coffee Connections in all three cities.
With “exceptional programming,” new partners, and major guest talent in the works, he adds, “this year is the most exciting and ambitious CIFF we’ve ever produced.”
Chandler International Film Festival will be held Jan. 23-Feb. 1.
