Lake Oconee author Andrea Cassell has written Kibby and Olive Move to Georgia, the third book in her award-winning “Kibby” book series – children’s life lessons as seen through the eyes of a special dog named Kibby.
Cassell was inspired by real-life events to write Kibby’s newest adventure. In 2019, she moved from Wichita, Kan. to Reynolds Lake Oconee with her husband and white miniature labradoodle, Kibby, who inspires her writing. The challenging experience motivated Cassell to write a book that will make relocating easier for children, whether across the street or across the country.
Moving is difficult for most everyone, and can be especially challenging for youngsters, who often don’t express what they’re feeling. In Kibby and Olive Move to Georgia, the furry members of the family relate their experience with moving in a way that children can identify with.
Through an engaging story for children ages four and up, Kibby and Olive demonstrate that moving means new friends to meet, many places to explore, and new adventures to enjoy. Children will discover that moving can help them expand their worlds and find beauty and happiness everywhere.
Andrea Cassell’s new “Kibby” adventure is her third picture book filled with gentle humor and insight in which her 30 years’ experience as a special education teacher shines through. Kibby and Olive Move to Georgia, Kibby the Space Dog, and Kibby Gets a Little Sister have each won the global Mom’s Choice® Gold Award.
Cassell is also the author of Nahima’s Hands: Unique Mediterranean Cuisine Cookbook. She taught cooking classes for many years and food, family, and friends remain an important part of her life.
Cassell’s career path has included diverse roles, such as: Miami Dolphins cheerleader; Mrs. Kansas; TV host of her own weekly show in Kansas with cooking tips, recipes, DIY projects, health, and beauty; and, professional vocalist on radio, TV, and stage. She and Kibby are also popular with their school presentations. Not surprisingly, Cassell is a fervent believer in staying busy!
