Live, Learn, Grow at Contemporary Ballet Dallas

Founder Lindsay DiGiuseppe Salih is building a new generation of talented dancers in her state-of-the-art studio.

When veteran dance pro Lindsay DiGiuseppe Salih opened Contemporary Ballet Dallas in Lakewood in 2005, her goal was to establish a school of the highest caliber. She wanted a positive place to explore techniques and shape dancers, personally and professionally.

In 2012 the school relocated to Mockingbird Central Plaza, across from Mockingbird Station. and is now in its 18th year of operation. “It was the perfect location as I did not want to lose the community of families that we had rapport within Lakewood, and it was closer to Park Cities, where we live,” she says.

Lindsay builds programs for all dancers: a preschool/kindergarten program, recreational classes for all ages, a pre-professional program, and an adult program. She is proud that Contemporary Ballet Dallas has the largest adult dance program in the region.

“My studio is unique in that we offer the highest individualized quality training in a variety of techniques,” she says. “Each student is different in their journey, and we help our students reach their goals.”

In addition to managing the business, Lindsay teaches ballet, tap, jazz, modern, contemporary, pointe, and conditioning, as well as musical theatre, and character dance.

As for success stories, Lindsay’s dancers have been accepted into the prestigious Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in the Dallas Arts District, plus Point Park University, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, SMU and more. She also has students who have pursued dance in musical theater, modern, ballet, and jazz companies, performing for Disney and establishing careers in modeling. A Dallas native, Lindsay graduated cum laude with a BFA in dance performance from SMU and performed with numerous companies.

Her daughters attend Highland Park Schools, where she’s volunteered over the years on everything from “pitching in on Field Day, to hanging artwork in the hallways before school started.”

“People in the Park Cities care about each other, and unite in times of strife to support individual families, community issues, education, etc.  They take action to change things in their community, and that’s the strength of the Park Cities.”
