For long-time Ahwatukee resident Steve Glover, mortgage lending is about more than selling loans. “It’s helping people achieve homeownership goals,” explains Glover. “I focus on assisting consumers in obtaining a residential loan that meets their needs while ensuring they’re receiving exemplary service throughout the process.” He has been providing that expertise to the Ahwatukee community for more than 20 years.

A Passion for Real Estate

Glover, born and raised in the Los Angeles suburb of San Pedro, comes by his passion for real estate naturally. His mother was a real estate agent in Los Angeles. Glover headed to Arizona for college and, after two years at Northern Arizona University (NAU), he graduated with a degree in finance from Arizona State University (ASU).

“After I received my degree, I was unsure which direction I wanted to go,” he explains. “It was my mom who suggested I look into the financial side of real estate.”

Making Arizona Home

While at ASU, Glover met his wife, Ann. Although she was originally from New Jersey, the couple decided to stay in the Valley, making Arizona home. They bought their first home in Ahwatukee in 1994.

“We chose the area because we wanted to purchase a new home,” Glover said. “At the time Ahwatukee was an up-and-coming area, very affordable with new houses and great schools.”

They chose right because the Glovers would go on to have three daughters, Alexandra, Kendall and Peyton, all of whom grew up and went to school in Ahwatukee. All three girls were avid volleyball players so Glover and his wife traveled for the girls’ games and tournaments. They also enjoy traveling to the beach, boating and hiking local trails.

Starting a Cardinal Financial Branch

Glover worked at Red Stone Mortgage for seven years before it was acquired by Cardinal Financial. He had long been a partner with the branch before opening his own branch in Ahwatukee.

“I wanted to have more control of my own destiny,” Glover said, "So, I opened my own branch with Cardinal Financial.”

Glover officially opened the Ahwatukee branch two years ago and enjoys working with the people in the community and his two-mile commute to work. He has 10 employees, one of whom is his middle daughter, Kendall.

“Kendall is one of my loan officers, among other titles; however, it wasn’t planned that she would work for me,” explains Glover. “She played volleyball for the University of Georgia and graduated with a degree in sports marketing during the pandemic. COVID-19 changed her plans, so she moved back to Arizona. I asked her if she’d be interested in working with me, so she went to work on the credentials and got licensed in multiple states. She has learned so much and has been a huge asset helping me with my business.”

Glover says that he and his staff are dedicated to streamlining the loan process to shorten the time from application to closing, all without sacrificing service, quality, or compliance. “Our company operates on a platform of high standards, while always putting honesty, integrity and ethics at the highest level of importance.”

These days, Glover is happy living and working in Ahwatukee. He believes family is everything and is proud of his daughters. “I love working with Kendall and my other girls are also doing great things,” Glover said. “My oldest, Alexandra, in in management with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. My youngest, Peyton, is wrapping up her freshman year at ASU. I'm a lucky dad.”
