Fostering Style, Community, Diversity, Belonging Through Music, Outreach And Fellowship

Expressing style through singing spreads inspiration. As a lover of music with medals and trophies from winning various singing contests, Garvaundo Hamilton sprang into co-founding and becoming CEO of Karaoke Idols to enable an elevated platform for amateur singers globally to showcase their talents and expertise through competitions.

"We provide a safe, fun music platform that fosters a sense of belonging for karaoke singers around the world," he explains.

Garvaundo says his own karaoke career truly took off while he was attending college in St. Louis during 2012. He completed his bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in leadership and change management. He had relocated from New York City, however, was born and raised in Jamaica.

He says his passion for karaoke, and his deep connection to St. Louis, were driving forces in his life. "It was crucial for me the places I hold dear are adequately represented in the world of karaoke idols."

To that end, at press time, the St. Louis Karaoke Idols competition was to be held Aug. 15-19.

"It was essential for me to ensure this vibrant city played a key role in hosting the competition. Bringing the contest to St. Louis is not just about the event; it’s about honoring the city that shaped my love for karaoke and allowed me to cultivate my talent," vows Garvaundo.

In 2017, he won the coveted St. Louis Idol. In 2019, he was crowned KWC Washington State Silver Medalist. In 2020, he became one of four KWCUSA national champions before winning the gold medal at KWC Worlds representing Team USA. He also oversees the International Karaoke Federation's Karaoke Cup competition, as well as international relations and amateur singer development.

Karaoke Idols involves 20-plus countries and 10 states in the competition.
