Scott Jenkins is a partner at Quarles & Brady Law Firm. As a commercial litigator and bankruptcy attorney, he is proudly recognized by his peers on the list of Best Lawyers in America and Southwest Super Lawyers. An Arizona native, he and his wife are raising two sons in Scottsdale with the hope that they too will cherish this amazing community and be a part of it into adulthood. It is in this vein that Scott has taken on many philanthropic leadership roles to show his children how important it is to give back to a community you love.
"I come from a family that has always placed a high value on community service. It was always understood that we were to invest our time, talent and resources in our community," Scott says. "I can honestly say finding ways to get involved in my community came naturally to me, and I sincerely enjoy it. I grew up here, so making sure that our community continues to thrive is extremely important to me. Now that I have a family of my own, I owe it to my two sons to do my part in making sure that the Valley continues to be a great place to live and raise a family."
Scott has a particular interest in Children's Charities and organizations. He feels fortunate to have worked with outstanding professional and nonprofit organizations that have a tremendous effect on the quality of life in the Valley and across the state. He has served as a member of the Fiesta Bowl Committee and the Junior Achievement Board, to name a few.
"I have seen how the good work of these organizations and their volunteers and staff directly impact Arizona and her residents," he says.
In 2015, Scott became a member of The Thunderbirds, which funds local charities from the record-setting revenues the tournament has been blessed to post year after year. The 2020 tournament will be the 85th year of what is now the Waste Management Phoenix Open presented by Ak-Chin Indian Community. The 2019 WMPO raised a record $13.2 million that will be reinvested in the terrific work of many local nonprofit entities across the state. Many of these organizations have missions that directly serve Arizona families and children in particular.
"The good health and well-being of our youngest community members is crucial to the long-term vitality of Phoenix. The Thunderbirds will continue to invest in this important sector of our community. This year, I was selected Assistant Tournament for 2020 and Tournament Chairmen for 2021. It is truly a great honor to be selected to the leadership of The Thunderbirds, and I look forward to continuing the legacy of 'The People’s Open.'”
An avid sports fan, Scott also can be found coaching his sons' baseball teams, as well as holding office as a member of the Executive Committee for Cactus Horizon Little League. While it seems he extends himself tremendously, Scott feels it is more of an honor than a burden.
"My family takes great pride in our association with The Thunderbirds and counts the commitment as investments in our future in Arizona. My family has seen up close how the proceeds of the WMPO are ultimately reinvested in places like the new Phoenix Children's Hospital Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, the Neuro-Robotics Rehabilitation Program at Barrow Neurological Institute, the Boys & Girls Clubs' Guadalupe Branch renovation project or the investment in United Food Bank, among so many other true legacy investments that are making Arizona a better place for all of us."
