In 1981, The Kittle House was delicately restored to its original grandeur by the Crabtree family after they took over the property and inherited its long lineage of stories. The Taproom’s bar originated from an Inn in England, where it was purchased by actress Fanny Brice as a birthday gift for mobster Dutch Schultz. The bar remained in his Manhattan speakeasy throughout Prohibition and was brought to The Kittle House in the 1950s.
