Understanding Estate Sellers

Hiring the best company for your next estate sale could be the difference between big success or huge disappointment.

Dallas is well-known for grand estate sales. On any given day in the Part Cities, Preston Hollow and more, events dot the luxury landscape.

But the idea that all estate liquidators were created equal is simply a myth. Finding the right company for a sale could be the difference between a rousing success and a bitter disappointment.

Enter José Tamayo and Stephen King, co-owners of Dallas Estate Sellers (DES).

José has worked successfully in liquidation for years and understands how factors large and small can dramatically impact estate sales.

Meticulously detailed and dedicated to ensuring exceptional results, Stephen’s retail management, design/staging experience, and work as independent antique dealer, brings a special talent for presentation.

Working for fashion brands like Perry Ellis, Arizona Jean Company for JC Penney, and Printemps, the celebrated Paris department store, José developed a sterling reputation in design. He brings an avid passion for interiors, antiques, and collectibles, and experience with several of Dallas’s premier estate sale companies.

Beyond their excellent business practices, both men bring a creative eye, critically important in displaying items, plus deep skills in researching, pricing, and selling.

“Since the beginning we’ve inspired a sense of trust from our clients,” explains José. “We want them to know all of their belongings are going to be handled with respect.”

However, it’s the team’s customer service that sets them apart. “We treat your estate as if it was our own … that’s our mission statement,” says Stephen.

DES has handled every size of estate – from 1,000 to 15,000 square feet. They customize every sale to each client’s individualized needs.

The team cleans, organizes, arranges, and displays all items, utilizing available areas, and brings additional equipment necessary to best showcase items for maximizing sales.

“We are committed to the highest integrity when conducting sales,” says Stephen.

DES will research, assess, and evaluate all items, using current market values, to determine the ideal pricing structure.

“If there are pieces outside our areas of expertise, we’ll engage an (independent) appraiser at our expense to ensure maximum proceeds,” says José.

The company also understands smart promotion having built a strong social media presence and an email list into the thousands to advertise sales.

The team at DES works to sell every item at the highest price feasible while handling details such as security, lighting and staging equipment and also observing all health and safety protocols.

They’ve been in business for eight years, and according to Jose, “We’re extremely proud that we’ve gained the respect and acknowledgment of established Dallas estate liquidators that have operated 20-30 years.”

“We are respectful, admire them, and consider some of these companies estate sale ‘royalty’. These companies also share the same high standards and expertise aligning with our values. We’re grateful for their recognition and thankful to be considered equals.”

“We take the worry out … it’s as easy as signing on the dotted line. We do the rest,” adds Stephen.
