Looking for Light and Healthy?

Ocean Bistro's Menu Can Help Diners Stay on Track With Fitness Goals

Whether looking to cut back on calories, trim fat, or just eat healthier food altogether, Ocean Bistro's fitness menus are available during lunch and dinner in Clayton at 44 North Brentwood Dr.

One popular example of the bistro's offering is Grilled Salmon, with the following healthy ingredients:

  • oven-roasted brussel sprouts,
  • butternut squash,
  • sweet potatoes,
  • corn,
  • rosemary butternut squash sauce and herb oil.

Oceano Bistro staffers say they feature the finest and most fresh fish and seafood available in the St. Louis region, combined with their innovative flavors, classical recipes and creative techniques. They claim to "playfully explore" the worlds’ cuisines and engage cultural flavors in unimagined ways that are rarely seen in the Midwest.

Ocean Bistro's owner Amer Abouwardah says one of his favorite light and healthy options on the restaurant's menu is Quinoa Shrimp. This dish features butternut squash, Granny Smith apples, carrot, broccoli, shrimp and avocado.

During 2020, Amer says he's intentionally eating more butternut squash, zucchini, broccoli, honeydew, pineapple and Red Delicious apples. Note that butternut squash is a good source of vitamin E, thiamin, niacin, vitamin B-6, folate, pantothenic acid and manganese. A cup of cubed butternut squash also provides 582 mg of potassium, more than the amount available in a banana!
