For 45 years, Becker's Diamonds and Fine Jewelry has helped couples celebrate one of life's biggest milestones. The family-owned jeweler has become a trusted destination for generations of Connecticut couples.
Becker's has built its reputation on exceptional service, quality craftsmanship and an impressive collection of bridal jewelry. While traditions remain important, President Peter Mouawad says today's couples are bringing new styles and priorities to the jewelry counter.
"The driving force in our business is definitely bridal jewelry," Mouawad said. "Wedding rings are always evolving, and we're seeing couples arrive with a very clear vision of what they want."
Much of that inspiration comes from social media. Mouawad estimates that nearly 80 percent of engaged couples walk into the store already knowing the styles they've been saving online, making the selection process more focused than ever before.
Among today's most popular engagement rings are elegant solitaire settings featuring elongated oval diamonds, often accented with hidden halos—small circles of diamonds tucked beneath the center stone that add sparkle from every angle. These timeless yet contemporary designs appeal to couples looking for understated elegance with a unique twist.
Wedding bands are evolving as well. Diamond eternity bands are growing in popularity, with many couples choosing coordinating bands that reflect their individual styles. Becker's carries an extensive bridal collection from leading designers including Gabriel & Co., A. JAFFE and Shy Creation, offering everything from classic designs to modern, fashion-forward looks.
Lab-grown diamonds are also transforming the bridal market.
"A growing part of our bridal business is now in lab-grown diamonds, especially among younger buyers," Peter says. "They allow couples to maximize their budget while getting the size and quality they're looking for."
But natural diamonds remain an important part of Becker's business, particularly for larger stones. Many customers continue to seek natural diamonds in the 1.5 carat range and beyond.
Becker's also keeps a close eye on national trends. Following this year's jewelry market in Las Vegas, Mouawad has seen renewed interest in colorful gemstones, particularly sapphires and emeralds. Birthstone jewelry is also enjoying a resurgence, with September's sapphire a perennial favorite for gifts and custom pieces.
Layering remains fashionable as well, with lightweight diamond necklaces, paperclip chains and delicate pendants adding everyday elegance. Fancy-cut diamonds — including pear, marquise and emerald cuts — are making a strong comeback, giving buyers more options than the traditional round brilliant.
With its Custom Design Department Becker’s can redesign a family heirloom, create a one-of-a-kind engagement ring or restore treasured pearl strands, to create pieces that are both meaningful and enduring.
Whether you’re searching for the latest bridal style or a timeless family heirloom, Becker's makes every purchase as memorable as the occasion it celebrates.
