Why is it important to take care of your skin regardless of age?

Taking care of your skin is crucial at any age because it serves as both a preventative and corrective practice. Starting early helps protect your skin from future damage, maintain its health, and delay signs of aging. For those addressing existing concerns, not only can the right skincare regimen correct issues, but preventative procedures categorized under regenerative health—such as biostimulators and lasers like Moxi and BBL—can actively maintain and even reverse signs of aging. Your skin is your largest organ and reflects your overall health, so investing in it not only boosts your confidence but also enhances your long-term well-being. At Canvas Skin, we believe in embracing beauty from the inside- out, combining innovative treatments with personalized care for every stage of life.

Are there any medspa treatments or facials that are safe and beneficial for teenagers?

Skincare is always a great place to start for teenagers, especially since they are more prone to acne and related skin concerns. Using medical-grade skincare tailored to these issues can make a significant difference. Products containing ingredients like Tretinoin, Retinol, Benzoyl Peroxide,  and Salicylic Acid are excellent options. Our Imera Toner Pads are particularly popular with teens—they’re affordable, easy to use, and highly effective in maintaining clearer skin.

In addition to a solid skincare routine, treatments like microneedling and chemical peels are safe and beneficial for teenagers. These treatments can help reverse acne scarring, improve post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), and boost overall skin health. We also recommend incorporating products like retinol and our customized Canvas prescription creams, which can include antibiotics to reduce bacteria and target acne. Starting these habits early not only addresses current concerns but also sets the foundation for healthier skin in the future.

What is your holy grail skincare product that you sell at Canvas Skin?

Our holy grail skincare products at Canvas Skin are the Ela Radiance Brightening Pads and the  Kalo Beauty Cream. The Ela Radiance Pads contain kojic acid and arbutin, which effectively reduce pigmentation and brighten the overall skin tone. On the other hand, the Kalo Beauty  Cream is our high-end luxury cream packed with vitamins A, C, and E—essentially every vitamin your skin could need in a single bottle.

However, the excitement doesn't stop there! We’re currently developing our very own product,  which has been long-awaited and meticulously designed to achieve skincare perfection. Once launched, I predict this will become the ultimate Canvas holy grail product!

What are the main skincare challenges for adults in their 30s and 40s, and how can treatments help tackle those issues?

In your 30s and 40s, skincare challenges often revolve around fine lines, changes in skin texture, and increased dryness due to declining collagen and hormonal changes. For many, this is also a busy, on-the-go stage of life—especially during the child-rearing years—where self-care often takes a backseat. I can personally relate, as my skincare routine drastically shifted after having three children in the past few years.

To tackle these challenges, combining practical products with effective treatments is key. Our  Imera Toner Pads are a lifesaver—they’re easy to use, reduce pore size, remove residue, and refresh the skin. Retinol is a must-have for promoting skin cell turnover, while our Ela Radiance Pads work wonders for reducing pigmentation and maintaining a radiant glow when used every other day.

For treatments, Botox is an excellent option for preventing wrinkles and enhancing skin glow.  I’m also a huge fan of consistent, easy microneedling—minimal to zero downtime—and I  personally do it every two months. It keeps my skin plump, reverses summer damage, and boosts  overall skin health. Another standout treatment is SKINVive, an exciting new injectable resurfacing procedure. It stimulates the production of aquaporins, which draw in water and deeply hydrate the skin—perfect for combating dryness caused by hormonal changes.

At Canvas Skin, we focus on practical solutions tailored to your stage of life. Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated, but consistency and personalization make all the difference.

What age is ideal to start incorporating preventative anti-aging treatments?

The ideal age to start incorporating preventative anti-aging treatments like Botox or fillers typically falls in your 20s to 30s, depending on your facial anatomy, expressive muscle activity,  and overall skin goals. For individuals with strong expressive muscles that may lead to dynamic wrinkles, starting Botox earlier can help prevent those lines from becoming static over time.

Fillers, on the other hand, can address early volume loss or enhance facial features to achieve a natural, youthful look. Ultimately, it’s not just about age—it’s about assessing your unique anatomy and creating a personalized plan that aligns with your goals. At Canvas Skin, we  emphasize preventative care to help maintain a refreshed and confident appearance for years to  come."

If you could give one universal skincare tip that applies to anyone, regardless of age or lifestyle, what would it be?

My universal skincare tip is to focus on two everyday basics: Retinol or Tretinoin at night and  Vitamin C during the day. Retinol promotes skin cell turnover, helping to keep your skin smooth,  prevent fine lines, and address a variety of concerns like acne or texture. Vitamin C, on the other hand, is a powerhouse antioxidant that brightens the skin, protects against environmental damage, and promotes collagen production. These two essentials form the foundation of any effective skincare routine, regardless of age or lifestyle, and can make a noticeable difference in your skin's health and appearance.

How do you tailor treatments for different generations, and what can influence these different treatments?

We tailor treatments for different generations by focusing on each patient’s unique goals,  concerns, and stage of life. Skincare and aesthetic needs vary greatly between someone in their 20s focused on prevention and glow and someone in their 40s or 50s looking to address volume loss, fine lines, or dryness caused by hormonal changes.

At Canvas Skin, we always meet people where they are. Whether it’s preventative treatments like  Botox or microneedling for younger patients or advanced solutions like fillers, biostimulators such as sculpture and Radiesse, or cutting-edge options like SKINVive for more mature skin,  every treatment is personalized. We believe in listening to our patients and creating customized  plans to help them achieve their best skin at any age."

Are there any innovative treatments or technologies in the medspa industry that benefit clients at specific stages of life?

One of the most innovative treatments we offer is Sciton’s Moxi/BBL laser, which is truly a game-changer in the medspa industry. This advanced technology is versatile and delivers incredible results for patients at various stages of life. Whether you’re in your 20s looking to refine pore size and enhance skin brightness or in your 40s or 50s addressing melasma,  pigmentation, discoloration, texture, or fine lines, this laser is tailored to meet those needs.

The combination of Moxi and BBL not only rejuvenates the skin but also delivers long-term benefits by stimulating collagen production and improving skin tone. It’s a treatment we’re passionate about because it empowers patients to achieve healthier, more radiant skin at any age.
