“My passion for the jewelry business began when I was 17, and has never left me,” recalls owner Linda Mandel.
“My first job in the jewelry business was at the Broadway Department store where I met my future husband.”
Unfortunately, Linda’s husband passed away just four short years after opening their first jewelry concession in a Smith’s Food King Market in Lynwood.
Suddenly, Linda found herself as a single mother of a young son with a business to run.
Through hard work and perseverance, Mandel Jewelers is now a community treasure renowned for consistency in quality and design.
“When I opened Mandel Jeweler’s over 50 years ago, I promised myself I would never turn down a fair profit, even a small one,” Linda recalls.
“For 5 decades I’ve negotiated more deals and accepted more offers than most attorneys and real estate agents combined!”
First-time customers quickly become loyal Mandel patrons for life, something Linda notes as a point of pride.
“Our customers come here because it’s fun,” she says. “Who says you can’t mix business with pleasure? Our service is fast, dependable, and always with a smile.”
Hearing ‘we’ll be back’ is music to our ears.
Linda and her dedicated team, which includes Manager Sue Baird, Master Jeweler Sam Kassar, and Master Watchmaker Roland Tabi, are committed to executing stellar service every time.
“Under promise and over deliver—these are words for any business owner to live by,” says Linda.
Customers flock to Mandel to shop a stunning selection of engagement rings, wedding bands, earrings, bracelets, and fine jewelry pieces that are both timeless and unique.
“Almost without exception, I never stock the same piece twice,” she says.
“We take pride in Sam’s expertise from a simple soldering job to intricate diamond settings. Clients enjoy having their fine timepieces serviced by Roland from as far away as Hawaii, and they love our 1-year warranty!”
Out of all the special items on display at Mandel’s, it’s the one-of-a-kind piece that makes the most magic.
“Custom orders are really the most fun. Your imagination and our expertise are key,” says Linda. “And here, they don’t take three months to complete. If you need it in a week, you have it in a week! We want our friends to be speechless when they see the finished creation.”
Over the years Mandel’s takes great pride in contributing to the good of the community whether it be local schools or churches, or a favorite of Linda’s, the Littlest Angel Guild for over 25 years.
It’s clearly not all work and no play at Mandel’s, where it’s impossible to leave without a smile on your face.
“Here at Mandel’s, we celebrate every day,” she says. “From our ‘Girls Night Out’ private parties to those good friends and neighbors who pop on by for a glass of wine, cocktail, or to chat before heading home after a busy day.”
“We are also really looking forward to the opening of David’s Bridal Salon (located next to us in the Albertsons Shopping Center) where we’re planning to collaborate during their Grand Opening Celebration. Diamonds and brides go hand in hand, and together, we’re sure to have a major impact on the OC bridal market with one-stop shopping.”
