Making More Space with More Space Place

Helping You Design a Custom Organizational Home Solution That Matches Your Needs & Style

Mac and Alisha Connor are the dynamic duo husband and wife team who own More Space Place Naples (and Fort Myers).  They made the move to our beautiful Paradise Coast with their daughters, Fiona (5) and Felicity (3), December 2023 from North Carolina, and they've loved every moment since. The sunshine, stunning beaches, and warm, welcoming people have made it feel like home for them.

When the opportunity arose to assume ownership of More Space Place, they embraced it wholeheartedly. More Space Place has been family-owned and operated for more than 35 years, and they're honored to continue that legacy. The Connors and their More Space Place team are committed to delivering top-notch customer service and helping their clients create beautifully organized spaces with custom cabinetry, Murphy beds, and home office solutions.

They kindly wanted to share some tips and tricks to help our community maximize their home designs, storage solutions, and just overall livability and hosting capabilities (as they too have now figured out you get a lot of visitors when you live in a place called the Paradise Coast!):

  1. Turning any room into a holiday or vacation haven with a Murphy bed - whether your hosting out-of-town guests for the holidays or they're coming down for some relief from the cold, hosting extra guests can be tricky, especially if your space is tight. A Murphy bed is the perfect solution, offering a stylish and practical way to welcome guests without sacrificing your home’s organization. Murphy beds are perfect for turning any space into a multi-functional area. By day, your home office, playroom, or living room stays tidy and functional. By night, the bed folds down seamlessly, creating a warm and inviting sleeping area. With custom cabinetry and finishes from More Space Place, your Murphy bed can be tailored to match your home’s unique style and décor.  Murphy beds let you host guests comfortably while preserving your square footage for everyday use.  Their modern designs are now sleek and discreet, with options like custom-built cabinets, bi-fold doors, and shelving for added utility.  And, with a smooth lift-and-lower mechanism, these beds are easy to use, making them perfect for last-minute preparations.

  2. When living in a smaller space or aiming to make your home more versatile, transforming furniture can be a game changer. Pieces like fold down desks and pull-out seating allow you to optimize your space while keeping it functional and stylish. These innovative furniture options are designed to work with your needs—whether you’re working from home, hosting guests, or simply looking to create a more open living area. For those who work from home or need a dedicated study area, a fold down desk is the perfect solution. These desks are designed to be tucked away when not in use, offering a clean and uncluttered look in your home. Whether it’s a small nook in your living room or an unused corner in your bedroom, fold down desks maximize functionality without taking up precious floor space. Once you’re finished working, simply fold it up, and your space returns to its original form. This flexible design allows you to work efficiently without committing to a permanent, bulky desk setup.
  3. Closet Creativity for Non-Traditional Spaces -

When it comes to closets, most people picture a standard rectangular space tucked behind a door. But what about homes with non-traditional layouts, oddly shaped corners, or rooms without a clear closet space? With a little creativity, you can turn these unconventional areas into beautiful and functional storage solutions that fit your needs and enhance your home.  Homes with sloped ceilings, such as in attics or under staircases, often pose a challenge for storage. However, these areas can be transformed into cozy closet spaces with a custom design. Utilize the lower sections for pull-out drawers or open shelving, ideal for shoes or folded items. Higher areas can house hanging rods for clothes. Installing lighting under the slope will not only brighten the space but also create a boutique-like feel. Have an unused alcove, awkward corner, or empty wall? A built-in wardrobe can transform these dead spaces into stylish storage. Sliding doors with mirrors can make the area feel larger while keeping your belongings neatly tucked away. For small spaces, opt for vertical storage with tall cabinets that extend to the ceiling, maximizing every square inch.  In open-concept homes, finding dedicated storage can be tricky. Freestanding closets with sleek finishes and customizable interiors can provide the functionality of a traditional closet without permanent construction. Consider wardrobes with dual-sided access for a functional and stylish divider between rooms, such as a living room and bedroom.

  4. As season ends and off-season arrives, it’s a good time to reevaluate your garage. This space can easily become cluttered with seasonal items, making it tough to find what you need. Consider using vertical storage solutions, like wall-mounted shelves and overhead racks, to clear up floor space. For larger items like bikes, ceiling-mounted racks or strong hooks can save space. Custom storage solutions not only keep things tidy but also make it easier to grab what you need when you need it.

More Space Place has two showrooms: one in Fort Myers, and one in Naples (on Airport Pulling Road in between 41 and Davis). They are a one stop shop for custom storage solutions, offering design, manufacturing and installation to meet their customer’s needs.
