The pandemic had many people rethinking their career path and gave the opportunity for many to launch a new business due to the global environment.
Xavier Norwood and his partner Mia Henson opened M.A.X. Cleaning Solutions in 2020 to focus on the need to disinfect and maintain a safe environment in the home and in every kind of business. They provide quality cleaning services and solutions using hospital-grade products for a variety of businesses, large and small, throughout Las Vegas and Henderson. Clients range from property management companies for apartment move-outs, home sellers, start-up businesses such as daycare centers, well-established companies, restaurants, and bars. They address COVID-related essential cleaning challenges using multi-surface disinfecting products and specialize in deep cleaning flooring and walls, especially in the home.
The company is dedicated to hiring minority women who primarily service the residential side of the business. But their focus on commercial cleaning has allowed them to expand their crew with additional experienced and friendly professionals providing the best service at a competitive price. Xavier notes, “our goal is to be able to relieve some of the daily pressure and help our customers continue to live a healthy lifestyle by providing quality cleaning solutions…while making connections that will last a lifetime.”
He and Mia met soon after he moved to Las Vegas when he went to the Excalibur Hotel & Casino where she was working, instead of going to the Luxor Hotel & Casino. They became best friends, began dating, then decided to start M. (Mia)A. (and) X. (Xavier) Cleaning Solutions to relieve the cleaning stress that many were worried about during the worst days of COVID and have now become part of our daily lives. While Mia is the owner of the company, Xavier wears many hats as the CFO and the COO, as well as an advisor.
Growing up in Alabama, Xavier always helped his father in his vending business and began working for him at 17 years old. But he never saw black or brown doctors or business professionals of any kind in his neighborhood. That’s why February, Black History Month, means so much to him. He’s proud of his accomplishments and plans to give back to the community by mentoring minority teens to show them how to make good choices and that it’s possible to become an entrepreneur.
