"What could go right is the unwavering mindset of Frisco's city leaders, staff and residents," asserts Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney. "And it's the perfect, optimistic viewpoint to have as we start a fresh year."
Jeff says challenges faced head-on in 2020 made the fabric of Frisco that much stronger. "We've never been a community afraid to make hard decisions, and that's partially what helped us get through the toughest parts of the pandemic. That said, we learned valuable lessons last year, which also makes us better prepared. Rest assured that Frisco's city representatives, businesses and residents still have their foot on the gas. We choose to assertively keep moving forward in 2021, striving to make Frisco better than ever."
Examples cited by Jeff of substantial Frisco projects to look forward to during this coming year:
- Public Library: $60 million reimagining of a social center with cutting-edge design and technology.
- Hall Park: $600 million, 162-acre development with 2.5 million-plus square feet of Class-A office space.
- Performing Arts Center initiation: future world-class inspirational space accessible for all Frisco residents and nonprofit arts groups.
- PGA of America headquarters relocation: avant-garde golf education, links nucleus, social gathering spot and state-of-the-art workplace.
- Grand Park: a vision 15 years in the making for 600 acres.
- Rail District: $50 million redevelopment of eight blocks within which to live, work and reinvest in downtown.
"In fact, this year might be the busiest year ever," says the mayor.
He maintains Frisco propelled from a side note among corporations planning to relocate to exactly the spot that companies are placing on their A List for corporate headquarters.
Jeff says visiting company representatives immediately notice Frisco's upbeat, optimistic persona. "We're the type of city that companies like to fully invest in, and have real relationships with other companies in the region," he adds.
Residents also are readily relocating to Frisco. "People feel the energy in Frisco, and we're proud of that. Once they tip their toe into the water in Frisco, they feel the electricity, and want more and more," says Jeff.
"While a dark cloud hovers over the world, we in Frisco have a new sense of gratitude, along with figuring out new ways to make memories. At the start of this New Year also is a good time to recognize first responders, teachers, medical staffs, public employees, business teams and nonprofits, who all have giving hearts and are trying to keep our community safe and progressing, serving real needs despite unavoidable struggles."
