When Cyn Silva moved from Northern California’s wine country to the desertscape of Scottsdale, everything changed; her palette, her perspective, and her momentum.
“I’ve always been the same artist, but I strive to evolve. I have a new view now, and so many things I want to paint here in Arizona.”
Known for bold, expressive work that fuses hyperrealism with abstraction, Cyn defies desert art clichés. Her saturated color choices and fearless compositions give iconic Arizona landscapes a contemporary edge.
“I want to strip away the excess and make the work pop.”
Her work has caught the eyes of art collectors and celebrities… Mauricio Umansky, Yonder Alonso, Chef Nobu, and Silicon Valley techies. She’s painted giant canvases for luxury estates, created murals for global brands, and filled lobby walls from Scottsdale to Singapore.
"Balancing life as both an artist and businesswoman takes serious intention. Carving out time to create is an act of discipline and devotion."
Her process is instinctive and immersive, anchored by music, daily movement, and early-morning hikes up Camelback Mountain.
“Observing is everything. I always see shadows before I see the subject.”
Now based in Scottsdale, Cyn paints with full intention and zero hesitation.
“I’ve been studying color theory since I was ten. It’s not guesswork; it’s science.”
Since moving to Arizona, she’s donated over 20 original pieces to support organizations she deeply believes in, including Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Fresh Start for Women, Ronald McDonald House, and Arizona Ballet.
“If I had millions of dollars to donate, I would; but I don’t, so I gift my art to raise funds for these great causes. It’s a win-win and makes my heart happy.”
Here are some of her most cherished pieces.
Dancing Irises
A joyful study in movement and light, this piece was born from early morning walks and close observation of blooming irises.
"This work connects me to the rhythms of everyday life and reminds me that art is not just grand landscapes, but also the simple, vibrant moments we live through daily."
Blue Velvet
An emotional ode to the mountain ranges of the West, Cyn structured this painting with layers of indigo, cobalt, and cerulean. Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe, it explores the quiet drama of natural forms.
"The ridges and valleys are illuminated by hints of lighter hues, creating a dynamic contrast between shadow and light."
Spring Training
Created for MLB star Yonder Alonso during his time with the Oakland A’s, this work combines energy and nostalgia, honoring personal pride of a player’s journey.
"Commissioned artwork is what I love most about my passion, process and profession."
The Praying Monk
One of Cyn’s favorite artist memories is delivering a 4x7-foot Camelback Mountain canvas to a luxury estate in Paradise Valley. The commission came through interior designer Kate Longley, and seeing it installed in that stunning golf course home, listed by Scott Grigg of the Altman Brothers, was incredibly rewarding. The owners later commissioned a second piece, The Praying Monk (pictured).
"The Praying Monk is deeply personal, reflecting my own journey toward mindfulness and balance. The unique color palette, moving beyond typical desert tones, symbolizes breaking free from expectation and embracing authenticity."
Camelback Nights
A large-scale acrylic commissioned for a luxury Paradise Valley estate, Camelback Nights captures the mountain after dark, where the desert’s stillness meets the pulse of the city. For Cyn, Camelback Nights marks a career milestone.
"This piece is meaningful because it represents a turning point in my career, a culmination of technical skill, emotional depth, and the trust of a client who gave me creative freedom. It reminds me of the powerful intersection between place, memory, and imagination."
