Meet Jessa Colon: Owner of Hairitage Hair Lounge

Hairitage Hair Lounge was founded by Jessica (Jessa) Colon in 2017. While her salon might be new, she has been sharing her expertise since first joining the professional beauty industry over 15 years ago. A Bridgewater-Somerville native, Jessa felt called to open a salon in her hometown community.

Jessa is best known for her color creations, balayages, vivids, color melts, and curly haircutting. She is also certified in hair extensions, keratins, and barbering. Jessa finds inspiration for her work by having an in depth consultation with her guests.

“Everyone’s needs are so different, I get the most pride out of helping my guests figure out how to emphasize their inner beauty. It is all about expressing self love. Giving someone a boost of confidence is my daily reward,” says Jessa.

Inspired by the people she learns from, Jessa finds it important to participate in continuing education. It is the key to staying up with trends and staying motivated.

When not working behind the chair, Jessa is working on editorial, bridal, runway, and educating for Muk. hair color. She has even been behind the scenes of New York Fashion Week and Style Fashion Week. She has produced runway hair for Jason Boateng, Ayasa Afi, & Charles Miller. Jessa is proud of her experience as an Assistant Beauty Director, where she was able to first hand create the avant-garde looks for Adrian Alicea. Her work has also been published in Cameo Girl Fashion Haunt Magazine.

Jessa has linked up with the beauty industries well known, like the #ScissorSaluteShow where she produced a rainbow vivid color, under cut and angled lob. She has also co-hosted and ran press with the show for Connecticut Barber Expo, Universal Barber Expo, Hilife Car Show and Glam Slam Productions.

As if she doesn’t sound busy enough, Jessa also likes helping the community by organizing Cut-A-Thon’s for local causes. She successfully raised over $2600 for her Cuts for Cuzo event that went toward the Jerome Gonzalez Mural in Somerville. Another fundraiser was for the Ashley Cardona Scholarship Fund, where four deserving students from Bridgewater-Raritan High School were awarded college scholarships.

But what comes first in Jessa’s life? Being a mom and a wife. She is the proud mother of four, beautiful girls. Come meet Jessa in her salon on North Gaston Avenue in Somerville.
