Meet the New Artistic Director of Stages St. Louis

Gayle Seay assumes the role in January 2022

“I have had the pleasure of working with STAGES St. Louis as an actor, choreographer, associate director and/ or casting director since 1996. I am thrilled to now make my second home, St. Louis, my new home,” Seay said. “I look forward to continuing, diversifying, and growing the legacy left by Michael Hamilton.”

As a performer Gayle has worked on Broadway, National Tours, Regional Theatres, cruise ships and with Symphony Orchestras across the country. She has appeared in commercials, films, television and print. More recently, she co-owned and operated a casting office, Wojcik | Seay Casting and has also produced and developed several plays and musicals, and guest teaches at colleges and performing arts schools around the country. Gayle will assume the Artistic Director role in January 2022.

“We could not ask for a better person to continue to grow and build upon the outstanding foundation gifted to us by Michael Hamilton,” said Mosbacher Family Executive Producer Jack Lane. “We have worked with Gayle for nearly 25 years and are thrilled to bring her into the STAGES St. Louis family as our new Artistic Director.”

In 2022, STAGES will present a dynamic 36th Season, which includes the World Premiere pre-Broadway tryout of THE KARATE KID: THE MUSICAL, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award Winning Best Musical IN THE HEIGHTS, and Tony Award Winning Best Musical A CHORUS LINE. New subscriptions go on sale in December 2021 and single tickets go on sale in Spring 2022.
