Q: What led you both to step away from traditional clinical environments and launch The ZenPet Vets?
A: Our decision came from years of working together in fast-paced emergency and traditional veterinary settings, where we repeatedly saw how much the clinical environment itself could affect a pet's experience. We saw patients who were already anxious become even more stressed by the car ride, unfamiliar smells, and waiting room. We realized we didn't want to simply become better at managing that stress—we wanted to remove as much of it as possible.
Q: What states do you serve, and how does your approach benefit behaviorally sensitive pets?
A: Our service area spans New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. We believe a behaviorally sensitive pet is not a "difficult" pet. Often, they are simply telling us that the traditional veterinary environment is asking more of them than they can comfortably handle. By meeting them where they feel safest, we allow them time to approach us, use gentle handling, and adapt our examination to the individual.
Q: What makes at-home care a vital support system for pet owners, not just the animals?
A: Mobile veterinary medicine allows us to care for two populations: the pet and the people who love them. Bringing care into the home removes significant barriers for elderly owners, clients without reliable transportation, or multi-pet households. It gives families time to sit down, listen to concerns, and provides peaceful, private at-home end-of-life care.
