Child abuse is a particularly difficult issue to consider, but there is, unfortunately, a great need for the important work being done at the Memphis Child Advocacy Center. The programs offered to victims aim to protect children from long-term trauma caused by child sexual abuse and other severe abuse.

Before the Memphis CAC opened their doors in 1992, the system’s response to reported child abuse was fragmented, expensive, and frightening to traumatized children. Today, within the kid-friendly walls of the Memphis CAC, victimized children who courageously break their silence, find safety, and access to complete evidence-based therapy with the ultimate goal of avoiding the long-term risks of childhood trauma which can include addiction, mental health problems, learning difficulties and chronic medical issues.

In addition to their child-focused therapy programs, the CAC provides research-informed Stewards of Children sexual abuse prevention and response training for adults at organizations across the community.
