MFGR - Culture

A Prototype in the Typology of Workplace Culture

If you’ve ever designed a prototype you know that there are many questions to be answered, many people to consult and many decisions to be made. It isn’t easy and the outcome is oftentimes an organic evolution.

Work-life balance is becoming a more sought after factor amongst those who cherish their life away from work. In Bozeman, this is especially true as our community is centered around some of the most pristine opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with endless activities that, more often than not, become reasons to live in one town versus another.

At their new location off of Main Street in downtown Bozeman, the MFGR Designs team fosters a work hard, play hard attitude. They are a rambunctious group of architects, designers, and builders that bow hunt, fly fish, ride motorcycles, skateboard, mountain bike, and ski as much as time will allow. Simply put, when they aren’t making your staircase or designing your home they are fostering what fuels them, and informs their very creativity.

Besides having driven employees that love where they work, the MFGR team boasts a diverse portfolio of talent that ultimately influences every piece that leaves their studio. In a world full of replications and rip-offs, the MFGR team is shamelessly themselves. Whether they’re creating timeless and classic functional art in the shop or designing a 240,ooo sq/ft apartment building or an off-grid cabin - in the office, MFGR’s collection of artisans model their work based on what is just outside their window. . It’s functional art for you to relax in after a hike or a long day of work. When you’re using it you’ll know that it was made by someone who loves what they do and appreciates where they do it.

“The world is full of silver-linings, COVID era included,” says founder Pete Costanti. “After spending that quarantine month at home with my family I knew something had to change. The four day work week is picking up steam with recent studies showing decreased worker burnout, newfound efficiencies, better sales, improved productivity, and increased overall happiness. “This concept made me realize that design is something I am super passionate about but I became obsessed to find a balance while simultaneously creating a culture that thrives in our booming community.”

“Excellence in life, as well as vocation, is critical to MFGR’s success; that's why we live and work in Bozeman. Removing ourselves from the design traditions of major cities with limited access to inspiration provides us with enormous insight that suits our audience, an audience that works and plays just as hard,” says Costanti. Intentionally focusing on a nearly seamless work/play lifestyle, the team regularly gets outside to explore this world we live in and soak in endless inspiration. In everything, they do there is a definitive nod to nature; they design with intention and they choose to live their lives by that same principle.
