Fate has a funny way of bringing people where they need to be - just ask Kevin Mills. Three years ago he was teaching a class at the convention center in downtown Nashville when he was approached by a local company to relocate from Powhatan, VA. Kevin will whole-heartedly tell you, “It’s the best thing we’ve ever done.” He and his family moved to Franklin and have happily called it home ever since. But after eventually getting laid off by the company that brought him here, Kevin found not only other work but a place to grow and begin the life he was striving for. While honing his fine craftmanship skills working on projects placing shiplap, custom hardwoods and wood ceiling accents, Kevin also found his place as a sober, dedicated family man.
He and his family joined Hope Church, an organization that spends more time in the community than in the church. Kevin is quick to tell you Franklin is the town it is because the residents put back into the community. And he is one of those people. He and his crew will set aside time to assist ladies or the elderly in small
odd jobs, at no charge, and spend time with them once competed.
After being laid off, Kevin began working small jobs on his own. Once word of mouth began to spread on his skills, he had enough work to begin his own
business, Mills Can Do It, with his brother and partner Jarrett. Kevin and his team are available for small “Honey Do” lists to full on custom renovations. The unique piece to Kevin is not only his enthusiasm and enjoyment of all his skilled trades, but his sense of giving back.
A jack-of-all-trades, Kevin is in the early stages of becoming a second business owner opening his own asphalt company. He's had 14 years of asphalt, seal coating and stripping experience. And after the daily hustle and bustle of the construction world, it’s a natural segue that Kevin open a new, secondary business
focused on his roots and one of his favorite parts of the business.
