THE NEW OLD FASHIONED

A “mock twist” on an old favorite with a vitamin C infusion

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 small lemon, juiced

1 slice orange

1 tsp honey

2 dashes orange bitters (Scrappy’s Bitters)

Ice

2 ounces ginger beer or ginger kombucha

GARNISH:

1 orange peel

3 cherries (Luxardo Cherries)

METHOD:

Muddle lemon juice, orange slice, honey and bitters in the bottom of a glass.  Add ice and ginger beverage and stir.  Garnish with orange peel and cherries.

THE STAMFORD SOBER MULE

This sassy little “faux cocktail” will not only dazzle your taste buds but sneak in a little gut healing as well. Best of all - you don’t have to wait till 5:00 to enjoy! 

INGREDIENTS:

3 blackberries (fresh or frozen)

1 thin slice of fresh ginger

4 fresh mint leaves plus mint sprig for garnish

Fresh lime juice plus 1 lime wheel for garnish (1/2 large lime)

4 oz ginger beer or kombucha

4 oz sparkling mineral water

Ice

GARNISH:

Fresh sprig of mint leaves

1 lime wheel

METHOD:

Combine berries, ginger and mint in copper mug and muddle for 1 minute to infuse flavors then fill with ice. Add lime juice, ginger beverage and ice.

Top off with sparkling mineral water. Garnish with a sprig of mint leaves and a lime wheel.

POST-GAMING MORNING MOCKTAIL MEAL

A detoxifying and replenishing “hair of the dog” antioxidant-rich,
liver-loving concoction provides a delicious antidote to alcohol’s

toxic effects. 

INGREDIENTS:
4-6 ounces organic tomato juice, best packaged in a bottle
A dash of your favorite hot sauce or to taste
A grind of freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp fresh lemon zest 
1 tsp fresh lemon juice or to taste
1/2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1/2 tsp fresh or powdered turmeric
3 dashes of organic celery bitters (optional)
1 tsp horseradish or to taste

GARNISH:
1 stalk organic celery, peeled
lemon wedge
On a skewer, alternate the following:
3 green olives
3 organic grape tomatoes
3 grilled shrimp

METHOD:
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and pour over ice.  Garnish with celery and lemon wedge and lay skewer on top of glass. Bottoms up!!  Your liver will thank you…

MOCKTAIL MAMA

Instead of reaching for the nearest wine bottle the next time you feel stressed, chill out with this delightfully aromatic and delicious stress-busting and hormone-balancing mocktail instead.

INGREDIENTS:

1 rosemary sprig

1/2 cup fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, chilled

1/4 cup pure pomegranate juice, chilled

Ice

Mineral water, chilled

Bitters of choice (I like Scrappy’s Grapefruit Bitters) – optional

GARNISH:

1 rosemary sprig

1 tsp pomegranate seeds

METHOD:

In a cocktail shaker, muddle 1 rosemary sprig.  Add grapefruit and pomegranate juices and shake.  Fill 1 large goblet with ice and strain liquid into glass.  Top with mineral water and bitters (optional) to taste.  Garnish with rosemary sprig and pomegranate seeds.
