Modern Plumbing's Showroom is a Feast For the Eyes

The company has two locations in the region that showcase thousands of its kitchen and bath products

There’s a unique shower display inside the expansive showroom at Modern Plumbing Supply, Inc.

About two dozen shower heads protrude Medusa-like from the shower’s tiled walls, representing just a portion of the wide array of styles and types of shower heads Modern Plumbing sells.

It’s just one of the many displays inside the huge showroom at Modern Plumbing’s Berlin location. Others include several full-size working kitchens and bathrooms to give consumers a better idea of the wide array of stylish products the company sells.

Established in 1935 Modern Plumbing is a family owned and operated business, servicing the plumbing contractors industry and homeowners.

Even in its early days, when plumbing supply houses catered mostly to the trades, Modern Plumbing sought to offer style and design services to homeowners as well, says David F. Berger, the company’s president.

“During the 1950s and 1960s, a plumber would come to your house and put in a new faucet and you got whatever he put in, you didn’t have a choice. But we’ve always concentrated on having a showroom component so customers could come and see the products they could choose from.”

The company’s commitment to that philosophy over the decades is reflected in the myriad of upscale and stylish kitchen and bath offerings the company sells from its 26,000 square-foot Berlin Turnpike facility. It also has showrooms in New Milford and Middletown.

The New Milford and Berlin stores are full service locations, the Middletown store, located within the Galleria Design Center, is a 3,500-square-foot showroom only.

Modern Plumbing’s showrooms include just a fraction of the thousands of products the company offers, including dozens of kitchen and bathroom vanities, faucets, mirrors, kitchen cabinets, shower heads, high-end soaking and jetted hot tubs, ventilation, shower bases and surrounds, toilets and sinks, to name just a few of the offerings. The company also has two large warehouses and a fleet of 8 delivery vehicles.

David says one of Modern Plumbing’s best assets is the company’s sales staff, most of whom have been with the firm for at least 10 years each. That collective knowledge, he says, means they have a deep knowledge of the products the company sells and its vendors.

Modern Plumbing also has a loyal customer base, clients who either want certain brands the company carries or want something better or different from the products sold in big-box stores.

Modern Plumbing selects all of its products based on the excellence of their quality, David says.

“I wouldn’t put anything in my business that I wouldn’t put in my own home, and I’ve had a lot of our products in my home.”

Modern Plumbing is open Monday-Saturday., 860-829-1778 in Berlin; 860-346-6030 at the Galleria; 800-241-3184 in New Milford. modernplumbing.biz
