More Than Meets the Eye

Get Ready for the Next Generation of Golf Carts

Colin Roberts, the owner of Pohle NV Center, asks us to forget everything we thought we knew about golf carts.

Also known as golf cars or neighborhood vehicles (hence the NV in his company’s name), his company has been offering E-Z-GO and Cushman brand golf cars for 40 years. During that time, they’ve expanded to six locations across the state. While many may picture traditional golf carts like those seen when hitting the green, there’s a lot more to these vehicles than meets the eye.

“What’s usually on the golf course are simple two-seaters, but we customize them significantly and sell many four- and six-seater golf cars. We have industrial and commercial models with utility beds, four-wheel drive, and more,” Roberts says. “These are all highly personalized, and we can make them as luxurious as you can dream up.”

Since 2017, E-Z-GO has integrated lithium batteries activated by Samsung SDI lithium technology in their golf carts.

“It’s basically a Tesla battery in a golf cart,” he explains. “They are maintenance-free and amazing technology. We tell folks, ‘Water your plants, not your golf cart.’”

He adds that neighborhood vehicles can be made street-legal in Arizona; they can be registered, titled, and plated like any other motorized vehicle. The E-Z-GO and Cushman models found at Pohle NV Center are also all made in the USA.

“Golf cars or golf carts are often also called neighborhood vehicles because they can be used as a way to connect with your neighbors in a subdivision, an RV park, a resort community, or wherever you live,” Roberts says.

While Pohle NV Center has been a mainstay in Arizona for 40 years, Roberts—equipped with an extensive engineering and business management background—purchased the company in 2019 and has since doubled the size of the business. He notes that plans to expand to other states are also in the works.

“The Scottsdale Airpark location of Pohle NV Center is a gorgeous facility that opened right before the pandemic but has since thrived thanks to community support,” he says. “We have a stellar client base and have been growing because of our amazing staff and customers.”

For those who want to get behind the wheel of the latest golf carts offered by Pohle NV Center, Roberts says that they can visit the company website, where people can order the vehicle online and have it delivered—or, of course, visit the Scottsdale showroom and take a test drive, too.

“Our neighborhood vehicle lifestyles remind me of the outdoor evening promenades in Europe—a chance for everyone to connect and spend time together,” he adds. “These little four-wheeled gems offer our communities a great deal of fun and family, and we are deeply proud to be a part of that.”
