Meeting patients where they are and helping them get where they want to be in primary care or struggles with addiction, depression or anxiety is the mission at AlphaOmega Wellness, assures co-founder Dee Bonney, M.D., and former emergency room physician. His wife, Megan Bonney, PMHNP, is the other co-founder at the wellness center.
From their Greenwood office at 1777 W. Stones Crossing Road, Dr. Dee says they provide three core services: wellness memberships centered around functional medicine, ketamine therapy, and health assistance with addictions.
Wellness memberships equal unlimited office visits during each month so AlphaOmega professionals can tackle each issue for each patient, he explains. "Our providers take an integrative approach to health concerns for each person, combining root causes with traditional medicine."
For ketamine therapy, Dr. Dee says their specialists assess a person's mental health history and explain how therapy can help patients, sometimes reducing depression by 75% in three or four weeks. He says their IV ketamine therapy sessions are conducted in a calm, supportive environment. "Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes, providing rapid relief from symptoms," he adds.
Post-treatment, Dr. Dee says they focus on integrating benefits of ketamine therapy into patients' daily lives to maintain mental wellness and maximize the therapy’s effectiveness.
"We overcome addiction with faith, group therapy and medication," says Dr. Dee. "We want patients to succeed, so we provide encouragement, love and support, along with accountability and medication-assisted treatment."
The reason why Dr. Dee says he and Megan launched AlphaOmega Wellness during August 2018 was because he, too, had an opioid addiction. "I know what it's like to have to put your life back together after the consequences of addiction. I'll be the first to tell you it’s not always easy, but recovery is always worth it."
To help people on multiple levels, he says they value all opportunities, often more as health coaches, to guide patients into new, positive trajectories in life.
Megan adds, "We explore the profound positive ripple effects on health and relationships that result from addressing mental health issues early."
During 2025, Dr. Dee says the AlphaOmega Wellness team will dial in on total body wellness, modifying their ketamine therapy as more options become available. "It's not mental health as much as it's brain health. If we get the brain healthy, other parts of life fall better into place."
