“When it comes to home mortgages and mortgage interest rates, now is not the time to panic,” Kinneman says. “A lot of consumers have been spoiled with super low mortgage rates, and might be nervous seeing them rise slightly, but this is not uncommon historically speaking and it’s not cause for concern.”
Known as “the mortgage man,” Kinneman says that many consumers may be concerned seeing higher mortgage rates because rates were artificially low for the past couple of years. But he and other industry professionals predict that 2023 is going to be the best year to buy a home.
“If you’re considering purchasing a home, get in there now, because March ushers in buying season,” he says. “Owning a home continues to be a dream for many families and one of the smartest investments a person can make.”
