Motcho Matcha

Summon your inner mixologist and try out this delicious cocktail created by expert bartender, Petry Muntyan, from Prime + Proper in Detroit.

Petry says: "I was looking to craft a cocktail with ingredients I have never worked with before. I selected matcha as it's trendy and provides an interesting flavor profile for an aperitif or digestive cocktail. I enjoyed working with matcha and it turned out to be a pretty flexible ingredient to work with. The cocktail has some bitterness from the matcha but the vanilla, honey and milk add a great balance to it."

THE GOODS

16 oz whole milk

8 oz honey

3 Madagascar vanilla beans

3 teaspoons of matcha powder

16 oz of vodka of your choice

2 oz heavy whipping cream

HOW TO

Place milk, matcha, honey and vanilla beans into a pot. Simmer until there are no more matcha clumps present in the mixture.

After that's done, let it cool down. Don’t add your vodka right away as doing so will force some of the alcohol to evaporate and reduce the strength of the matcha liquor.

Once the liquor is nice and cold, pour it over new ice.

Add heavy whipping cream into a shaker with one small ice cube (that way the cream doesn’t come out of the shaker) and shake vigorously for 12 seconds.

Strain on top of the cocktail.

Add some matcha dust for a garnish. Enjoy!
