for the sober curious

A Dry January Doesn't Have to Be Boring

The term ‘sober curious’ has crept into our modern lexicon as more people explore their relationship with alcohol – or are considering a life without it. Fortunately, a category of mocktail beverages that serve as great alternatives to alcohol have grown in number in parallel with the rise of sober curious and increase in people who are sober. I did ‘Sober October’ and took the opportunity to try some of the mocktails I’ve heard so much about.

1.Crisp & Crude: This Austin-based, female-owned company has created concoctions that mimic classic cocktails, minus the alcohol but with the addition of hemp and mood-boosting botanicals. We suggest a variety pack: https://crispandcrude.com/

2.Kin Euphorics: Co-founded by Bella Hadid and Austin-based Jennifer Batchelor, Kin was among the first to fuse adaptogens, nootropics, and botanicals, resulting in what they call “a feel-good revelry revolution that activates the power, energy and peace that is already in you.” https://www.kineuphorics.com/

3. De Soi: Co-founded by popstar Katy Perry and Morgan McLachlan,. De Soi was ‘Inspired by the French ethos of pleasure and restraint.’ They currently have a trio of non-alcoholic aperitifs made with natural adaptogens. My favorite is the Purple Lune! https://drinkdesoi.com

4. Little Saints: These plant magic mocktails created by plant-based food innovator Megan Klein contain CBD and botanical terpenes. They come in Mimosa, Spicy Margarita, Ginger Mule and Paloma. https://littlesaints.com
