Cole Drum’s days are spent meeting with clients, reviewing their portfolios, tax-advantaged investments, beneficiaries, and preparing for the unexpected. Out of the office, he may be found hiking, fishing, or golfing. Perhaps he’s even flying to visit beautiful places around the world, such as the Maldives or more recently Berlin.
Having served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years, Drum is no stranger to travel. Despite all of the landscapes that he has experienced, though, Texas has always been home. With his return to civilian life, he settled down in the Greater Austin area.
“I was looking for something that I could do to serve and help people, which is what I had been doing on a different level. Basically, looking for a way to be a part of my local community,” says Drum.
Part of this meant joining the American Legion Post 911 to support veteran causes in Central Texas. While he participates in other fundraisers, he spent three years heading their annual charity golf tournament.
When combining his passion for giving back with his love of numbers, becoming a financial advisor just made sense. Through Edward Jones, Drum finds fulfillment in guiding families and small business owners to prepare for transitional periods and reach their goals.
“I’ve been to high school graduations, college graduations… I was able to be there when a young couple bought their first house… Getting married, having a baby… Pretty much any life thing that you can think of,” says Drum. “That’s definitely part of the value-added, getting to earn their trust and stay in contact with them.”
As a Master Training Specialist, Drum enjoys educating the public on how to achieve financial success. He believes that everyone should have an advisor, regardless of how much money they have or how young they are.
