The New & Next Student Designer Showcase marks an exciting new chapter for The Collective Runway Show, launched to spotlight emerging talent and invest in the next generation of fashion visionaries. In partnership with Central Washington University, Seattle Central College, Seattle Pacific University, and Washington State University, the program offers selected student designers a rare opportunity to gain hands-on experience, industry mentorship, and runway exposure.
With foundational support from their schools and creative guidance from renowned designers Deyonté Weather and Olayinka Ola, along with show producer Terri Morgan, eight rising stars will debut their original collections during the 20th anniversary of Fashion Week at The Bellevue Collection. What inspired The Bellevue Collection to launch the New & Next student designer program?
The Bellevue Collection was inspired to introduce the New & Next Student Designer Showcase as a way support and spotlight emerging fashion designers. The program was created to uplift student designers by giving them a real-world platform to share their work, gain exposure and grow professionally.
How were the eight student designers selected for the program?
Students attending schools in Washington that offered fashion design-related programs including Central Washington University, Seattle Central College, Seattle Pacific University and Washington State University. Students from these programs were invited to apply for the showcase and eight were selected based on their creativity and design proposals.
What kind of support did each student receive during the program?
Students began the program with a kick-off conference in February 2025 to learn about fashion week, get inspired by local independent designers and the process they would follow, leading up to Fashion Week. A $500 stipend was provided to each student, to fund the creation of the 2 looks for the runway. In close collaboration with The Bellevue Collection team, fashion designer mentors and school faculty, the students completed their looks which will debut at The Collective Runway Show during Fashion Week and be on display throughout Bellevue Square following the show.

At The Collective Runway Show, guests can expect an elevated evening of fashion with designs debuted on the runway from the New & Next student designers alongside designs from Deyonte Weather and Olayinka Ola plus brands available at The Bellevue Collection.
