Ocotillo Village Health Club & Spa

A Health Club that Offers Fitness For The Mind, Body And Soul

Plato, the Greek philosopher, believed the part could never be well unless the whole is well. Ocotillo Village Health Club & Spa has taken this concept to another level by creating a community of health and wellness. They treat the body through fitness programs. They soothe the mind in their spa. And they feed the soul in their café, but also through the welcoming community they’ve built.

The Chandler location opened in 2015 and is the newest of four Village Health Clubs in the Valley. While they’re membership-based, they welcome the general public to enjoy their spa and café. Any spa service earns guests an Ocotillo Village day pass. They also have a Kid’s Club available for up to three hours of childcare.

“In our busy lives we need to remember to take care of ourselves, our mind and our body. The spa is a place to take a moment and just breathe. Sit back and let us do the work in pampering you and giving you that much needed relaxation time,” says Michelle Sorensen, the spa director.

She says many guests will get together with friends and make a day out of it.

“You can start the day with a yoga class, relax in the sauna or Jacuzzi, enjoy a spa service, have brunch on one of several patios, and lay by the pool. If you are interested in tennis lessons, racquetball, Pilates, or personal training, we can also set that up for you as well,” she says.

They’re a full-service spa. New club members receive two complimentary treatments and a membership discount.

“The Village is a place to take care of yourself. It’s a one-stop shop where you can work out, enjoy a spa service, shop, eat and socialize. Staff and members alike are friendly and happy,” Michelle explains.

Ocotillo Village offers more than 140 group fitness and yoga classes weekly, and private and group Pilates sessions. They have qualified personal training for beginners and advanced athletes.

“Fitness is important since it allows us to keep moving, be active and enjoy a healthier and longer life,” says Linda Bernal, the group fitness, yoga and Pilates director. “Fitness is what helps us stay green and growing. I always end by telling members to thank your bodies for one more day and one more workout.”

They also offer MYZONE, an innovative, wearable heart rate-based system that uses wireless and cloud technology to accurately monitor physical activity.

“This helps members work smarter not just harder,” says Bernal. “Members constantly comment that they have built many friendships and a great sense of community. This is not your everyday gym. Imagine yourself coming in for a great workout with a friend, and then enjoying a great meal with a glass of wine in the café.”

The Lakeview Café is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It serves healthy options like salads, protein plates, grilled salmon and chicken, as well as protein shakes, energy bars and drinks.

“We are not your typical café,” explains Carla Diaz, the café manager.

One of her favorite dishes is the stuffed chicken breast with spinach and feta cheese wrapped with bacon.

“We have it all, amazing group exercise classes and yoga. We have a family pool, a lap pool, tennis court, basketball courts, an amazing Kid’s Clu, and of course the amazing Café. But the best part is all the people who work here. They all are very loving and caring people who love what they do and genuinely want to help our members achieve their fitness goals. I love being part of such an amazing club,” she says.
