2024 was a big year for the Chandler Fire Department, as 18 of their firefighters welcomed 19 new bundles of joy.

Firefighter Penni Cyrus welcomed her son, Kade, in February 2024. Firefighter Harley Davis celebrated the birth of his daughter, Holland, in the same month. Captain Victor Bagayas also had a special February arrival with his daughter, Andrea.

Fast-forward to April and firefighter Cody Stewart became a proud father to his son, Clutch. Captain Donaldo Lopez also celebrated in April with the birth of his daughter, Dorothy. Shortly after, firefighter Caleb Newman welcomed his daughter, Georgia, in May. Firefighter Mitch Wehrli had double the joy in May with the birth of his sons, Bowen and Briggs.

Moving into the summer months, engineer Jack Bernard celebrated the arrival of his daughter, Jersey, in June. Firefighter Trent McDaniel then welcomed his daughter, Millie, in July. And, firefighter Blake Kemp also had a July blessing with the birth of his daughter, Hazel. Firefighter Mikey Johansson celebrated the birth of his daughter, Haven, in August. Engineer Scott Graves also had a special August arrival with his daughter, Clementine.

As fall and winter came, so did the additions to the crew. Firefighter Jonah O'Hare welcomed his daughter, Betty, in October. Firefighter Garrett Pratt also celebrated the birth of his daughter, Lucy, in the same month. Firefighter Brady Wetch became a proud father to his daughter, Mia, in November. Finally, engineer Chris Morales closed out the year with the birth of his daughter, Kelsey, in December. (Two other babies arrived in 2024 but they and their parents were camera shy.)

“The Chandler Fire Department is a family and the parents who welcomed babies into their homes are a reminder of the deep connections we share both in the firehouse and at home,” says Chandler Fire Chief Tom Dwiggins about the new additions. “These little ones represent the next generation of strength and service for the Chandler community. We couldn’t be happier for our firefighters and their families as they share this incredible journey of parenthood together."
