Beachy Summer Reads

SWAN SONG, Elin Hilderbrand

Hilderbrand’s series of quintessential beach reads are set off the coast of Massachusetts, and “Swan Song” is apparently the last of her series. When the Richardsons move into their $22M summer home, they become the epicenter of the social scene until the mansion burns to the ground. High stakes drama and familiar island characters will leave both new and longtime readers satisfied.

ONE PERFECT COUPLE, Ruth Ware

Located in the fictional Ever After Island in the Indian Ocean, this is escapism at its finest. Ware often sets her novels in cold, dark locations, but this drama is full of swimsuits and sunshine. Characters Lyla and Nico travel to a remote island for reality show competition, think "Love Island" meets "Survivor," but the contestants lives are truly at risk...

VERY BAD COMPANY, Emma Rosenblum

“Very Bad Company” is Rosenblum’s second book. Set in Miami, this novel focuses on the driven, deceitful and cutthroat corporate executives of a tech startup. The new hire, Caitlin Levy, comes in with a multi-million-dollar salary and a target on her back, immediately having to navigate the waters (literally and figuratively) of an over-the-top executive retreat in Miami.

For classic summer reads, check out novels by Jennifer Weiner like “Big Summer” and “The Summer Place.”

“Malibu Rising,” by Taylor Jenkins Reid, is also a dramatic read about the cult of celebrity.
