Shoppers from Birmingham and beyond have always appreciated Caliber in Homewood as the premier place to buy anything and everything related to the art of hunting — from high-end firearms and accessories to proper shooting attire. Since opening in 2017, the local shop has been a destination for premium guns, including exclusive Beretta guns and Blaser rifles.

But now, there are plenty of new reasons to visit this distinctive shop — and they don’t all relate to hunting, or even to sports. From men’s and women’s fashions to unique accessories to locally crafted gifts, you’ll find a whole host of intriguing items stocked, just in time for your holiday shopping.

Logan Grill, Caliber’s clothing and accessories manager, promises a wide selection of boutique fashions for women from great brands such Project Social T, Elan, Unpublished Jeans, Peach Love and By Together, to name just a few. “We are focusing on trendy items and better price points,” she noted. “And we have items for women of any age, from 16 to 60.”

As for accessories to complement your chic new outfit, Caliber offers the best of everything: stylish watches for men, plus handbags and jewelry for women — including a more generous variety of baubles from local jewelry designer and Birmingham favorite, Shalla Wista.

Those seeking that perfect holiday gift will find plenty of options at Caliber, such as Homewood Candle Company candles and bars of heavenly Bourbon Vanilla soap by Onward Reserve. “I ordered a few cases of the soap and it’s already gone,” said Logan.

“We have great stocking stuffers too,” she added, “including gourmet snacks from a company called Bear Food — great for both men and women.”

“We are still a small hometown shop, but we want to cater to everyone,” General Manager Jake Keiser pointed out. “We have affordable options that maintain Caliber’s integrity and quality, and whether your budget is large or small, we have something for you.”

And after the holiday bustle has died down, keep an eye on shotgun and handgun classes coming up in 2022, after a COVID-19-related hiatus, according to Jake. “We look forward to the spring, and we will likely have classes for men and women at that point,” he said.
