Staying Healthy And Happy While Traveling The Globe

Alex Tran is a nomad at heart, but growing up in foster care limited her opportunities to travel. As an adult, she has embraced her desire to live in various cities in the United States, such as Nashville and Denver, and visit countries all over the world. Experiencing new and different foods and customs inspires her to stay on the move.

“I took my first international trip when I was 19,” she says. “I went to Mexico on a trip with my church to build homes for an orphanage. I learned how to cook amazing carne asada and guacamole and hung out with the orphans and learned their stories.”

She has continued to travel internationally at least once a year and has now visited a total of 45 countries. Everything she does is shared with a community of 15,000 followers at Alex Goes Global on Instagram. “I started blogging in 2012 after being asked by multiple people where I bought my yoga outfits,” says Alex. “I decided a blog would be a good place to publish my activewear reviews.”

Over the years, her blog has evolved into a total lifestyle blog where she shares everything from travel and clothes to food and photography. “I review restaurants, fashion, and activities around the world,” she says. “People mostly follow me to find out new things to try and places to go domestically and internationally. I offer advice on how to navigate traveling and offer content
that might be of interest to them.”

After the pandemic hit, Alex began to include travel guides on her blog and socials. “We were grounded and I could no longer travel, so I took all my photos and began to write-up guides.”

Since she’s also into keeping her body and mind healthy, in addition to yoga, Alex makes it a priority to get in a workout. “When traveling, I make sure to bring enough activewear and have access to gyms. I also prefer to walk a lot while traveling, and plan hikes and excursions that get me off the beaten path and keep my body moving.” 

She loves to cook and pays attention to the foods she’s putting into her body while at home and on the road. “One important thing that I always do while traveling is ensure that my travel companions and I get in our greens and split meals,” she says. “It can be very easy to forget about our health while traveling, but if you make it a habit to eat healthy, drink lots of water, and move your body daily, then you can stay fit while on the road.”

An extrovert, Alex enjoys meeting others and finding out what motivates and moves them. “And, I love being introduced to new things and then sharing my findings with other people who are interested in the same things that I'm interested in. Eventually, I will be planning trips and inviting my community to join me on trips around the world!”
