One Man Band

James plays at family gatherings, weddings, birthday parties, company celebrations, and more.

James Alexander’s love of music traces back to his childhood. Growing up in Texas, James started playing guitar at 6 years old. By the time he was 12, he’d added the piano, drums, and saxophone to his repertoire.

As a teen, James started playing in local bands and eventually moved to California at 19. There, he played in a band called Talon that earned airtime on the local radio station. With Talon, James opened for Steve Lukather, Iron Butterfly, and many other major artists.

Today, James is the sole talent behind The One Man Band Show Additionally, he plays in several tribute bands, including Desperado: A premiere Tribute to The Eagles, Shine On: The Pink Floyd Experience, and Best Shot: A Pat Benatar Tribute Band.

So how did James come up with The One Man Band Show concept?

“I began my One Man Band show by learning how to record digitally using MIDI and live instruments on a computer,” he says. “I was recording cover tunes and learning how to mix and master the songs when I was asked to play at Lake Alice in Riverside, California over 13 years ago. It was just me, my acoustic, and my piano. The show’s energy level was lacking, so I asked the manager if I could bring in tracks to make it sound like I was playing with a band. She agreed, and the rest is history.”

Soon, James’s show was a hit. “People would tell me that they thought the jukebox was on until they saw me playing live,” he recalls. “I have since built an acoustic show, an electric guitar show, and a piano show that can accommodate any event and delivers a live band atmosphere.”

The One Man Band Show consists of a variety of musical genres, including new and classic country, 80s tunes, and pop music. There’s something for everyone in the audience to enjoy. “You could hear Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, Eagles, Van Halen, Bruno Mars, Train, and Elton John all in the same set list,” says James. “My passion is music and performing. I go into every show with the hopes that everyone enjoys the music and has a great time.”

You can find James’s One Man Band Show playing at local breweries, bars, city functions, wineries, and private parties in Southern California. He’s also performed at venues in Arizona, Nevada, Northern California, and Texas.
