OP Jenkins is a family-owned business based in Knoxville that opened in 1907. The furniture store prospered through the Great Depression, World War I, World War II, and many recessions. The flagship remains in downtown Knoxville and the Franklin location opened in 2016 with an emphasis on design
services, a unique selection of antiques and quality upholstery. OP Jenkins is very proud to be a local, TN-based business that has over 100 years of history in serving the communities with great customer service, unique furniture, and exceptional design. Services include customizing an empty space or helping with just a few pieces that can be purchased directly from their sales floor with the ability to source from over 400 vendors.
A current project OP Jenkins is designing is a new construction for clients that are new to town but have previously worked with OP Jenkins. The clients opted to have OP Jenkins assist with furniture, lighting, rugs, window treats, wallpaper and accessories for this home. Their goal was to create a flow between each room with a clean, classic space that feels timeless but fun.
Lead Designer, Jess Wilkerson says that she focused on longevity and quality for all the main pieces such as upholstery, the dining table, and the overhead lighting so these things can easily last the next 10 to 15 years. “I focused on details that gave the rooms character, like fabrics and trims for window treatments, wallpaper for the powder room, and a few fun prints for the dining chairs, and living room accents,” states Wilkerson.
Wilkerson says that the upcoming trends for fall and leading into 2022 are different patterns and textures. We will also see more medium-wood tones and less dark wood and painted pieces. If you’re looking to update your space, Wilkerson suggests opting to purchase classic, well made pieces that you can easily hold onto. These investment pieces can be updated with colorful pillows, ottomans and accessories to completely change the feel of the space.
