Early childhood education plays a vital, long-term role in providing a strong foundation for later academic, social and emotional growth, asserts Jessica Schmollinger, Primrose School of Greenwood franchise owner.
"That's another reason why we're expanding our services," Jessica adds, citing that they recently added a Toddler 3 classroom and a transitional kindergarten program to provide hands-on, engaging learning that's full of discovery.
She says the TK Program starts by building a math foundation through interactive whole group lessons. "We explore numbers together using tools that help children visualize counting and number relationships that build confidence in early addition and subtraction.
Jessica says they then show students through games, movement and real-life examples how to understand how numbers work together, especially to increase problem-solving skills.
"We also nurture a love for reading by focusing on letter recognition, sounds and early phonics skills. Students practice blending letter sounds together, which is an important step for self-assured readers," she explains.
Primrose students are introduced to foundational STAR reading strategies that support early success in literacy by recognizing patterns and sounds to build simple words.
"Every TK Program lesson is designed to be interactive and developmentally appropriate so that curiosity, creativity and confidence is encouraged," says Jessica.
Parents of Primrose students also recognize the extended "family culture" present at the school, led by teachers who make them feel they belong.
The Gandhi Family stated their experience at Primrose School of Greenwood has been nothing short of wonderful: "The teachers and staff create an environment where children feel safe, supported and excited to learn. They've become such an important part of our lives. From the cheerful greetings in the morning to the thoughtful learning activities throughout the day, we see how much love and effort goes into making this school feel like a second home. For our daughter, Mishka, Primrose has been a place where she has blossomed. She has learned to show leadership traits, build meaningful relationships with her teachers, make friends with confidence, and has come a long way in her cognitive development. Watching her grow into a curious, kind and capable little girl has been one of our greatest joys — and we know Primrose played a huge role in that journey. The Primrose team puts their hearts into everything they do, and we’re grateful to be part of this community. We couldn’t imagine a better place for Mishka to grow."
Primrose is an all-around an incredible establishment, stated the Miner family: "It's a clean, welcoming facility, with a happy and caring staff and wonderful curriculum. I cried touring daycares when my son was born. I was terrified to leave him with strangers who didn’t love him like I did, but when we found Primrose all those worries disappeared. Now he's in EPS, and my daughter is in the infant room, and I'm still so incredibly lucky to have found a place that treats me and my children like family."
Key benefits of solid early childhood education programs are preparation for entering kindergarten while teaching children to reason by incorporating problem-solving tasks and to develop critical thinking skills. Effective childhood education also encourages children to explore their surroundings, which fosters curiosity. Imaginative play, such as pretending to be in a specific career, allows a child to exercise creativity and develop imagination.
Jessica verifies that young students often learn best when they're involved in different forms of play, including activities involving sensory components, art projects and science experiments; storytelling, reading, music and dance to develop motor skills, rhythm and self-expression; group projects and collaborative activities to develop cooperation and teamwork; and exploring new cultures and languages to introduce different customs and perspectives to broaden their understanding of the world.
Every Primrose staff member undergoes a thorough background check before joining the school, she adds. "Plus, all staff are also CPR and first–aid certified, so parents and guardians can feel confident their child is in safe, prepared hands every day."
New Primrose Family's Observation
"I really enjoyed how welcoming Primrose was upon just entering the building. It seemed like everyone loved to be there. The facility looked and smelled cleaned, which I know may be strange to say, but some places aren't always like that. Also, Ashlea was great and provided us with all the information we needed, as well as after the tour addressing questions we could've even had in the future. Overall, it was a pleasure and I'm excited to get my child started here," states the Duran Family.
Primrose Schools is a national system of accredited private preschools, which is recognized as a top U.S. child care service provider.
