Open your heart, and appetite, to the kindness and deliciousness of Homegrown Kansas City

This neighborhood eatery serves fresh, mouthwatering local fare that enriches your life.

The first Homegrown opened in Wichita in 2017, and they now have three locations in Wichita. They opened their Brookside location on August 9, 2021.

“We are a completely scratch kitchen. We want to serve fresh, made-from-scratch meals at a reasonable price,” Mark Androes, Market Manager, says. “We serve local pasture-raised eggs, KC's Scavusso's meats, Farm to Market Breads, Shatto Dairy products, Tom’s Town Distilling, Messenger Coffee…the list of local partners goes on and on! It is important for us to serve local and reinvest in the community.”

He has found that Brookside is truly a special place. The community is strong, and they hope to be a part of the neighborhood for a long time. He says they already have so many regulars that have made them part of their weekly or daily routine.

“I do not minimize what a privilege it is to serve and create relationships with our neighbors,” he smiles. “I love seeing young families walking over on Saturday and Sunday mornings, parking strollers, catching up with friends and celebrating special events with us. It really is an honor.”

The menu offers many favorites to all who eat at their tables. How about homemade coffeecake with buttermilk caramel sauce? Or homemade pop tarts, biscuits and gravy, avocado toast, pancakes and the BLTAE. Mark’s personal favorite is the Salsa Verde Park & Egg and whatever is on the seasonal menu. The bar makes an amazing mimosa with fresh squeezed orange juice. He also personally loves the Beermosa made with KC Bier Co Hefeweizen.

“I am really proud of the culture we build at Homegrown. You'll see a sign on our wall that says, ‘Cultivate Kindness.’ I hate to say that's a motto because it is so much more,” he continues. “We focus on treating each other, our guests, and partners with genuine kindness. In our world, we are often someone's first experience of the day. We hope to serve them and treat them with true kindness that they can then spread that kindness into the community the rest of the day. Again, what a privilege.”

They are hoping to continue to grow in the Kansas City area and are always scouting out more locations. Visit their new Brookside location for a bloody good brunch!
