The Marco Island Yacht Club Reopens!

The Marco Island Yacht Club (MIYC) has reopened and is ready to welcome our Paradise Coast City Lifestyle community!  Amidst a multi-million renovation of its 19,000 square foot clubhouse, the Club has overhauled its facilities, staffing, operations, and community outreach in an effort to become an elite club in Southwest Florida.

Located just over the S.S. Jolley bridge on the Marco River, it's a stone's throw from those in our community in both East and South Naples, Isles of Capri, and of course on Marco Island itself.

In 2021, the club opened a state-of-the-art, 27-slip marina, entitled The Riverside Marina. This brought an influx of new boaters to the club, and called for a desire for the club to match the aesthetics and functionality of the new marina.

The renovated clubhouse features fresh, modern decor and open floor plans in its dining facilities to take full advantage of its sweeping waterfront views. Its kitchens underwent complete overhauls with all new equipment. A new members’ lounge and an extra bar are were added, and its office facilities were upgraded to support more efficient operation of the club and improved service to members.

“We’ve revamped the entire club,” said Missy Duffy, the new General Manager named to her position in April. She further noted that the club is also increasing its kitchen staff to provide two dedicated teams - one for events and one for member dining and cocktail services. Duffy also said the club is extending its hours to provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner Tuesday through Sunday and retaining its popular Sunday brunch.

Duffy was named general manager after serving for two years as the club’s dock master. She has worked on and around boats most of her life, previously having worked at marinas in Nantucket and Miami. She recently also completed her MBA at FGCU.

The club’s philanthropic committee has been on pause during the clubhouse renovation, but is planning to “ramp up” community activity going forward, leveraging the new clubhouse. Those efforts will support members' ongoing interests and nonprofit associations with the likes of Toys for Tots, For the Love of Cats, Golden Paws, SWFL Heroes Foundation, and Little Pink Houses of Hope, to name a few.

The club can also tout its recent “Clean and Resilient Marina” designation from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, a certification which fewer than thirty marinas in Florida have earned.

The club is accepting new members, but expect there to be a new member waiting list within the next year once the renovations are complete and visible to the public. So, it's suggested that interested parties visit the Marco Island Yacht Club soon for a tour and sign up quickly!

“I think this is going to be the place to be,” GM Missy Duffy said.

Prospective members can visit https://marcoislandyachtclub.net/membership and contact the club for more details at 239-394-0199 or their email listed on that page.

MIYC started as The Marco Island Yacht and Sailing Club in the 1960's, when a small, wooden clubhouse was enjoyed by members who participated in or watched sailing events predominantly. In 2001, it morphed into The Marco Island Yacht Club.
