Even in summer weather in Boerne, outdoor dining is a nice change from the regular routine of mealtimes. Our City boasts of several outdoor dining areas that are extremely popular. We'll focus on two in this article.
The Dodging Duck Brewhaus & Restaurant is a family-owned and operated brewpub celebrating its 17th anniversary. In a renovated turn-of-the-century home with outdoor decks and a patio, the menu includes "creative and contemporary" dishes. Fresh regional ingredients go into the half-pound “Brewhaus” Akaushi beef or bison burgers, grilled sausage plates with soft Bavarian pretzels and beer sauerkraut, and the award-winning “Heart of Boerne” salads are very popular. The Dodging Duck’s delicious fresh craft beer is brewed on-site in a 10-barrel copper-clad brewery and piped directly to the taps mounted inside in the wraparound bar.
Located on River Road, the duck traffic can get congested as the duck population waddles from the Cibolo Creek banks to the grassy area in front of the restaurant. Vehicle traffic should be prepared to stop to allow the flock to cross. https://www.dodgingduck.com/
Peggy's on the Green is the result of Mark Bohanan's, (Chef/Owner of Bohanan's in San Antonio) look to the north, intent on establishing a South-inspired, all-American restaurant in Boerne. Named for Mark's late mother, a great cook, the restaurant is located in the historically-significant Kendall Inn, a 19th century stagecoach stop that's offered Texas hospitality since 1859.
The lovely restaurant, bar and outdoor seating area is located on West Blanco across from Boerne Main Plaza. Brunch, lunch and dinner menus offer extraordinary dishes and wonderful desserts. Sandwiches such as the Monte Cristo and Maine Lobster Roll for lunch plus a variety of Eggs Benedict dishes for brunch and many appetizers, soups and salads available across all menus offer something for everyone. Steaks and seafood served with tasty vegetable dishes for the table will keep you going back for more. http://www.peggysonthegreen.com/
