Outdoor Living Spaces

Offer Year-Round Place to Relax or Entertain

With the Summer and Fall before us, why not consider transforming your outdoor living space? Garner Custom Homes shared with us photos of a couple of beautiful homes they built earlier this year. According to Agave Design Studio, there are some trends in the design and décor of custom home outdoor landscapes that have become popular.

In the photos, you will see a custom-built fire pit created by Agave Design Studio with comfy furniture off the main seating area. These are popular and even used during the warmer months for a rustic outdoor experience. What could be better than beautifully landscaped lawns and features to accent the outdoors? What really looks good and is requested time and again is the transition from the pool area to the lawn area with stone masonry retaining walls. Planting terraces can soften the structure in the area around the pool. The clean lines of the concrete pavers and artificial turf in the pool area make it very easy to care for and look great year-round.

Trending now in landscapes are putting greens – perfect for the avid golfer – designed and constructed by Philip Turturro. Keith Zars Pools gets many requests for infinity edge pools and also incorporates sunken hot tubs. Examples of these are in the beautiful photos taken by Blue Bruin Photography.

A living area with comfortable, weather-resistant furniture for relaxing, dining or watching television is just what is needed to add that extra space for entertaining. And there are so many décor options for styles, colors, textures and materials. The built-in appliances are convenient items to have in outdoor entertaining.

SIMPLE AND EASY OUTDOOR TRANSFORMATION

Frame your lawn with features that give definition when you have a large area around the house.

Use easy-care greenery to define the perimeters of outdoor rooms or to offer some privacy from the neighbors.

Consider maximizing the flow from indoors to outdoors with eye-catching full-length doors.

Use lanterns and string lights to highlight an outdoor space.

Create visual interest by up-lighting trees or fencing.

A water feature is always nice whether alone surrounded by ornate stones or plants or in a pool setting.

Select furniture that is practical, washable and weather resistant.
