The art gallery at the Parker PACE Center hosted a beautiful art exhibit Mosaics – Outside the Box. It presented the art of 22 members from the Colorado Mosaic Artists organization, all of whom rose to the challenge of taking their chosen art form “out of the box” by giving it a distinctly modern twist. Artists used a wide selection of materials, styles, and methods to demonstrate the seemingly boundless range of possibilities for mosaic art.
Curator’s statement
I absolutely love when we get “out of the box” here at the PACE Center. I can’t thank Betsy Hicks, director of the Colorado Mosaic Artists organization, enough for bringing me in on her idea of pushing her members to rethink the ancient art form of mosaic. The second she said the title, I knew I was going to see some truly imaginative works by artists seeking to incorporate familiar materials in a totally unexpected manner. - Rose Fredrick
