Avni Patel, owner of The HERA Jewelers in Summit, is a third generation wholesale jeweler. He now uses his years of experience and connections in order to source exclusive gemstones typically available only at high-end luxury stores and bring them directly to his retail customers.
Avni takes a lot of pride in the personalized customer service he offers, the quality of his gems, and in the unique designs of his pieces. Since his diamonds sparkle so much on their own, Avni says he doesn’t need a lot of lighting in his cases. One customer, when trying on a ring, mentioned that she couldn’t believe how much the stones shined.
“That made me happy,” he says. “It feels good when you use good quality stones and they look so nice.”

“We try to offer one-off pieces so that no one else will have what you have,” he says.
For inspiration and to stay on-trend, Avni attends fashion and award shows, and keeps an eye on what celebrities are wearing. The store continually changes its selection, so when something is sold, it’s usually not replaced by the same thing. Instead, something new is added.
