According to Jason Racca, owner of R3 Physio, the path to optimal health starts with prioritizing being active during the day. “Movement helps lubricate our joints and tissues. When we're not moving, our joints and tissues are not able to get the hydration and lubrication they need. Over time, that can lead to tightness, stress, and strain,” Jason explains. “A simple 15-20 minute walk also helps the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is a big part of how our body gets rid of waste, and keeping it healthy helps decrease inflammation, improve our immune system, and decrease pain.”
Staying hydrated and eating a nutritious diet also helps reduce inflammation and improve the health of tissues and joints. Although each person has unique circumstances, Jason recommends avoiding processed foods and foods high in sugar because these increase inflammation. Instead, consuming whole foods and foods rich in omega-3 tends to decrease inflammation. Reducing inflammation throughout the body not only helps tissues and joints but can also reduce brain fog and improve brain function.
Many of the patients Jason and his team help have tried traditional avenues for healing and still struggle with pain. So, he encourages people to keep seeking answers. “Even if you've tried physical therapy before, there is still an answer out there,” he says. “So be your own advocate and keep asking the questions. There is an answer; you just have to find the right people and the right approach.”
